Brrrrrrr
It’s -15F at the race venue. Which is about 11 too cold to race. So the sprint qualifier has been pushed back till 1:30pm. Frankly, I doubt it’ll warm up much by then. Even if the qualifier happens, there’s not much time to run the heats before the sun sets at 4pm it gets cold again. Either way….very glad i’m not racing today.
Update: Sweet pic from Laura’s site.
The plural of Moose is…Moose.
My count is up to 7 so far for the week. All seen within 5 feet of a ski trail. There’s nothing quite like flying down a hill in a tuck, rounding a bend, seeing one of these monsters on the side of the trail, but also realizing that it’s waaay to late to stop and the only choice is to whiz by right on by. It’s freaky.
Hopefully none of these guys show up for the race tomorrow.
The moose won’t be the only ones absent tomorrow. I’m sitting the sprint races out, saving up all my super-fast-mojo for the distance races on Monday and Wednesday.
Good luck to all the racers!
I resolve:
- to get my training log up to date
- to not be a baby
- to find a living situation that I am happy and comfortable with
- to eat more vegetables
mini break while i go find some spinach….
My spinach is frozen. It’s an interesting effect, gives it a little more crunch. Still, I’m not sure I like it much. Ok, /break.
Further resolutions:
- to learn Norwegian (or at least how to swear colorfully in it)
- to wax my skis more
- to wash my hands more frequently
- to finish at least half of the projects I dream up
- to stay better organized
and lastly,
- to be as fast as I possibly can, on any given day, any given conditions, any given temperature, any given other random variables, with no excuses. And to be happy and satisfied that I’ve given my best, and with the fact that that’s the only thing in my control. (This really fits under the aforementioned No Babies, but it’s worth saying twice)
